Every evening, I go through this little routine—like a mini detox from the day. Dishes head to the dishwasher, counters and tables get wiped down, and stray toys are gathered from the floor. My little guy loves stacking cups and lids, while my older daughter works on her independence by handling bedtime routines on her own—brushing her teeth, washing her face, getting her pajamas on. It's a moment to reflect on the day, laugh at the mishaps, and cherish the sweet moments before calling it a night. It’s almost meditative, this process of clearing the clutter, both physical and emotional, setting the stage for tomorrow.

It reminded me of how writing feels sometimes. There are moments when the words flow effortlessly, creating something beautiful and meaningful. And then there are days when it’s more about cleaning up the chaos, sorting through the fragments of the day, and letting them settle into something coherent. This post? It’s kind of like that—a mental detox, a stream of thoughts poured onto the page.

a day at the beach

Some days, life unfolds according to plan. The house stays tidy, and the kids play harmoniously. There’s a sense of accomplishment, checking things off a list, and feeling proud of the orderliness. But then there are those other days—the ones where chaos reigns supreme. By mid-morning, I’ve already cleaned up cereal off the living room floor, almond milk from the kitchen tiles, and water from the rug. When it gets to that point, I know it’s time to hit pause. The to-do list can wait; it’s time to escape the mess. That’s exactly what we did today.

After a quick stop at Walmart for a new swimsuit for Aliyah (her old ones seemed to vanish into thin air), we had limited options—either a blue denim-looking bikini or a one-piece covered in peace-sign graphics. We went with the denim option. Then, we stopped at Starbucks for my free reward drink—a soy no-water chai—and some juice boxes and chocolate milk for the kids. Before heading to the beach, we swung by my husband’s office so the kids could use the restroom, stretch their legs, and try on their new swimsuits.

As we arrived at the beach, the sky was clear, the clouds fluffy, and the air warm. After scarfing down half of our picnic lunch, we got busy building sandcastles and filling buckets with water from the lake. I stood there, soaking in the humid Michigan air, watching my daughter swim confidently and make friends instantly. Meanwhile, my little one busied himself digging trenches and pointing out boats passing by. “Where’d boat go?” he’d ask in his toddler-speak whenever a boat disappeared from view.

But even as I enjoyed the moment, my mind wandered. I couldn’t help but think about the future. This lake, with its tree-lined shores, would soon be replaced by an endless horizon and the salty tang of ocean air. Watching families enjoying the beach made me curious about the stories behind them, the lives intertwined in this small town. Today felt like a beginning—a fresh start, a preview of what’s to come.

Today marked the first day of August, a new chapter, a fresh start. If I had to name it, I’d call it the Grand Opening. A perfect kickoff to the month when we’ll choose our new home—a place to grow and build our family in a different state.

Even though it started with a few spills and a less-than-perfect plan, it ended beautifully. We left the beach with happy, sandy kids, returned home to a delicious dinner prepared by my husband, and spent time giving everyone baths before tucking them into bed. A good end to a good day.

Disposable Laparoscopic Trocar

Disposable laparoscopic trocars are typically made of plastic or metal and are designed for single-use only. They are available in a range of sizes and shapes to accommodate different patient needs and surgical procedures. The trocar is typically inserted into the patient's abdomen using a technique called "blind insertion," which involves inserting the trocar through the skin without direct visualization of the underlying tissue.

The disposable nature of these trocars makes them a convenient and cost-effective option for many surgical procedures. They are also less likely to cause infections or other complications compared to reusable trocars, as they are sterile and do not require cleaning or sterilization between uses. However, it is important to follow proper disposal procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.

Disposable trocars are designed for single use, reducing the risk of infection and cross-contamination between patients. Trocars are usually made of plastic and come in a variety of sizes, depending on the size of the incision and the surgical instruments used.
