There is no heating pipe inside the cylinder dryer, and the shavings are large enough, generally up to about 20%. In order to make the shavings evenly sway and move along the simplified direction toward the discharge opening, guide vanes are mounted in the cylinder.

The cylinder can be mounted horizontally or obliquely, and the angle of inclination can be positive or negative. When the inclination angle is negative, the shavings are in a climbing state, the speed of movement is low, and the heat energy can be fully utilized, and the drying efficiency is high; in this case, the material can be loaded more, and the filling factor of the shavings in the drying body is increased.

The simplified end of the dryer is connected to the draft fan duct and the other end is connected to the furnace gas duct of the combustion chamber. Waste wood, copper scrap, gas, gasoline or kerosene can be used as fuel. When the fuel is burned in the combustion chamber, high-temperature furnace gas is generated. After mixing with a certain amount of flushing air, it is sent to the dryer. Dry the shavings.

This type of dryer is available in both forward and reverse flow. The moving direction of the shavings in the downstream dryer is consistent with the direction of the furnace gas flow. The shavings encounter a low-temperature and high-humidity airflow near the discharge port, which increases the difficulty of evaporation of water and reduces the drying efficiency; however, in this case, The small shavings move fast under the driving of the medium, and the residence time in the machine is short, which can improve the uniformity of drying and improve the safety of the dryer. In the counter-flow dryer, the moving direction of the shavings is opposite to the direction of the furnace gas flow. The shavings are in contact with the high-temperature drying airflow at the outlet of the dryer, and it is easy to grasp the final moisture content of the shavings, but the safety is poor. At present, domestically used furnace gas heating cylinder dryers are generally of the forward flow type, and the furnace gas flow rate is generally 1-3H/s, and the inlet temperature is 300-400Y.

The furnace gas heating cylinder dryer has the advantages of simple structure, high thermal efficiency and large output, and is suitable for mass production. However, due to the high temperature of the furnace gas (the exhaust gas outlet temperature is as high as 200 °C), it is easy to catch fire when the control is not good, and the fire prevention problem needs to be completely solved. In addition, organic volatile compounds (such as coke, resin, fatty acids, and bribes) in wood are released at high temperatures, causing air pollution. At present, there are only a few domestic users of such furnace gas heating cylinder dryers.
