Piglet winter high survival rate management measures

Winter weather is cold and newborn piglets may have high mortality rates if not managed properly. This is because after the birth of the piglet, the gas from the placenta through the original, intake of nutrients and waste removal, into the self-breathing, feeding and excretion. Due to changes in the living environment, some piglets cannot immediately adapt and die. In order to ensure the survival rate and healthy growth and development of winter suckling piglets, pig farmers should focus on the following tasks:

A fixed nipple milk

After the piglets are born, thin piglets are allowed to eat the sows at the head of the sow, and strong piglets are fed the sows at the back of the teat. Because the sow has a large amount of milk in the front of the sow, the milk quality is high. Fixed nipple milk can balance the growth of piglets.

Second, do a good job of cold insulation

After the piglets are born, they must do cold insulation work. When the weather is fine during the day, the sow can be sun-dried with a piglet prop. Keep it dry in the pigsty, pad more and more, and change it often.

Third, early feed concentrate

The sow’s lactation level generally decreases gradually after the third Monday. Therefore, it is advisable to begin feeding supplements 10-15 days after the birth of the piglet. At this time, supplements should be refined to exercise the digestive organs of piglets and promote independent growth and development.

IV. Supplemental drinking water Generally, the appropriate amount of warm boiled water should be given to the piglets 3-5 days after the piglets are born. The piglet supplemented with drinking water should add the appropriate amount of salt and wheat bran.

Fifth, timely and appropriate mineral supplements

When supplementing the piglets with concentrates, appropriate amounts of mineral additives such as bone meal and shell powder should be added to meet the needs of the growth and development of piglets. Under normal circumstances, piglets are prone to iron deficiency, so it is best to start feeding piglets 3 days after the piglet is born. The method is: Dissolve 2.5 ferrous sulfate and 1 gram of copper sulfate in 1000 ml of water. When spontaneously licking milk, drops of ferrous sulphate and copper sulphate are dripped onto the sow's nipple, allowing the inhalation to be spontaneous. It is also possible to pour the above solution into the breastfeeder and allow it to suck for 1 to 2 times a day. If you have already begun feeding supplements to piglets, you can also feed the above mixture into the feed at a rate of 10 ml per piglet per day. After the piglet is grown to 1 month, the concentration of the iron supplement solution can be increased by a factor of 2, which can effectively prevent iron deficiency in piglets.
