Ten measures to reduce chicken feed wastage

Feed costs account for about 70% of the cost of chickens. Reducing feed waste can reduce feeding costs and increase economic efficiency. After years of practice, the author has summarized ten experiences in reducing feed wastage for reference by breeders.

1. Feed trough (bucket) structure should be reasonable groove and barrel bottom should not be too shallow, and there must be back, the bottom of the groove is preferably flat, the bottom plate and the side plate to be at right angles. In free-range mode, the wire is pulled on the trough or a wooden beam that can be turned is installed to prevent the chicken from stepping into the trough, fouling the feed or scooping the feed to the outside.

2. Feed trough (bucket) location should be suitable in the free-range chicken house, the quantity of trough (bucket) should be sufficient, and should be placed evenly. The height of the chute (barrel) is often adjusted with the age of the chicken so that its upper edge is equal to the height of the chicken's back. In this way, the chicken can eat the feed without getting the feed out of picky.

3. The use of full-priced feed The full-rate feed is formulated according to the feeding standards of laying hens and processed according to the scientific formulation, so it can meet the various nutritional needs of egg licks and can increase the egg production of laying hens; at the same time, it is According to the needs of laying hens to provide nutrition, so the most effective use and conservation of feed. The production practice has proved that feeding full-price feeds to laying hens is inferior to feed feeding or single feeds, saving at least 25% of feeds.

4. The self-made fodder is purchased from the market with full-priced fodder. The price is relatively expensive. You can buy nutritious and inexpensive raw materials according to local conditions and prepare them in strict accordance with the feeding standards. In this way, it can meet the nutritional needs of laying hens and reduce feed costs.

5. The feed shape and feeding method should not be crushed too fine for reasonable feed, otherwise palatability is poor and easy to fly. When adding materials, it is necessary to add less and add less material at one time. According to the determination, if one feed is 1/2 of the feed tank, the feed waste is 7% -8%; once the feed is 1/3 of the feed tank, the feed waste is only 1% -2%. Therefore, when feeding chickens, the added material should not exceed 1/3 of the tank depth.

6. In addition to preventing choking and licking, it is also possible to prevent chickens from feeding food outside the trough because of picky eaters, resulting in feed wastage. The chicks are usually first cut off at the age of 6 days and 9 days of age. The young chickens are generally cut off at the age of 70 days to 90 days.

7. Feeding high-quality breeds, early elimination of male Isha hens and Dika hens; Rose hens, Star 579 chickens, etc. are all supporting hybrid layer hens that have fast growth, low mortality and strong egg production ability. Their commercial chicks can identify males and females according to their feather color (white feathers are male chicks, brown feathers are female chicks). Therefore, when feeding layer chickens, the above breeds can be selected for feeding, so that higher egg production can be obtained, and chicks and mothers and young chicks can be separated early and the male chicks can be eliminated early, thereby reducing feed intake and reducing feed costs. . If breeding chickens that cannot identify males and females, identification of males and females can be carried out using the method of trans-analysis or other methods.

8. When rearing breeders, the ratio of male to female should be appropriate. If there are too many cocks, besides being prone to fighting each other, the phenomenon of matching, affecting the normal activities of the flock, resulting in hens disabled and reduced egg production, but also easy to cause feed waste. Therefore, when breeding chickens, as long as they can meet the breeding needs, there is no need to keep too many cocks. When using natural mating, the proportion of males and females is 1:12?15; when artificial insemination is used, the feeding amount of males can be greatly reduced, and the male-female ratio is 1:30?50.

9. Timely elimination of diseased, weak, disabled and non-laying hens in the feeding process of laying hens due to various reasons; sick, weak, disabled and non-laying hens should be eliminated in time to avoid Feed wasted.

10. Pay attention to keeping good feeds to have better feed processing and storage sites. For feed, it is necessary to prevent rat damage, prevent mildew, and prevent insects, so as to reduce the loss of feed storage; but also to avoid light preservation, so as to avoid the destruction of multi-vitamins and other nutrients and reduce the nutritional value of feed.
