Xinjiang invites "4D" technology to speed prosthetic orthosis for disabled people

Release date: 2016-04-21

Since May, the “Fukang Project” of the autonomous region has planned and installed various types of rehabilitation aids for 400 disabled people in Xinjiang. The 4D computer prosthetic orthosis assisted design and manufacturing system will help the "Fukang Project".

On April 15th, at the acronomic center of the autonomous region, the engineer from Germany, Gailic, demonstrated the design and production of a prosthetic model using a 4D computer system.

Recently, the reporter learned from the Xinjiang Rehabilitation Aids Technology Center that the “Fukang Project” is one of the key livelihood projects implemented by the autonomous region in 2016, and it is also the key livelihood project of the civil affairs department of the autonomous region for each of the five consecutive years.

The project serves mainly orphans and disabled people in social welfare institutions. The project services mainly include six categories: hearing, cerebral palsy, amputation and hemiplegia. An average of 500 free installations per year, of which prosthetic orthoses are mostly.

It is understood that in the "Fukang Project" that benefits the disabled, the project auxiliary equipment configuration work is undertaken by the Xinjiang Rehabilitation Aids Technology Center. In May each year, the Xinjiang Rehabilitation Aids Technology Center dispatched a team of technicians to assist in the preparation and measurement of the auxiliary equipment, and the adaptation was successful in September.

The 7 million computer 4D computer prosthetic orthosis assisted design and manufacturing system to be used is to use a 3D laser scanner to collect patient models, use software to design, modify the model, and then process and make a model, which is also the northwest. The only 4D computer prosthetic orthosis assisted design and manufacturing system in the region.

“We go to all parts of Xinjiang every year to conduct pre-inspection, measurement and take-up, and then make molds by hand, and then configure prosthetic orthoses for patients according to the mold.” The relevant person in charge of Xinjiang Rehabilitation Aids Technology Center said that now With a small laptop and carrying case, patient information can be collected and digitized in at least 15 minutes, at least more than half of the time.

According to reports, in the past, the patients in the state to the center to deploy a variety of rehabilitation aids, from the type to the installation, at least 10 days or more, now less than a week to complete, not only saves patients' time, but also saves Patient expenses.

According to the person in charge, compared with the traditional practice, not only the quality of the prosthetic orthosis will be improved, but also the working hours will be greatly shortened. "This means that the client will be able to complete the configuration work faster," the official said.

At present, there are 83 welfare institutions at all levels in Xinjiang, including thousands of disabled people, and more disabled people in the society. These patients are equipped with rehabilitation aids such as prostheses and orthoses for free, and they can carry out rehabilitation medical operations. Quality of life enhances their self-confidence in social integration.
