Morphological characteristics

Lithospermum is a perennial herb. 50 to 90 cm high. The whole plant is rough-haired. The roots are long, slightly curved, hypertrophy, and purple. Stems erect, upper branches. Leaves alternate, shortly sessile or sessile, leaf blade rough, ovate-lanceolate, entire or slightly irregularly wavy. Racemose cymes; sepals leaflike, lanceolate or narrowly ovate, both surfaces hirsute; sepals 5-pole acicular, base connate; corolla white, simple, apex 5-lobed, 5 small scales at throat Basal coats; stamens 5; ovary 4-parted, style simple, linear, stigma 2-lobed, nutlets ovate, gray or pale brown, smooth and shiny. Flowering from May to June, fruiting period from July to August.

Growth habit

Lithospermum was born in shrubs in barren hills, roadsides, and dry rocky slopes.

Lithospermum likes cool, moist climate conditions, afraid of earthworms, afraid of high temperature, with high dry terrain, deep soil, rich in humus, good drainage and strong water permeability of neutral or slightly acidic sandy loam is appropriate. Saline-alkali land and low-lying heavy clay land should not be planted.

Distributed in Xinjiang, Gansu and western Tibet. Northeast China and Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou and other places.
