Morphological characteristics
Psoralea annual herb, high 60-150cm. Branches hard, with longitudinal ribs; whole plant is white pilose and dark brown glands. Leaves alternate, sometimes with leaflets ca. 1 cm ca. lateral; petiole 2-4 cm long, white tomentose; stipules paired, triangular-lanceolate, ca. 1 cm, membranous; leaf blade broadly ovoid, long 5-9cm, width 3-6cm, apex obtuse or round, base heart-shaped or round, with a coarse serrated edge, both sides have significant black glandular spots.
Flowers mostly densely integrated spikelike racemes, axillary; pedicels 6-10cm long; calyx campanulate, base synthetically tubular, apex 5-lobed, black glandular hairs; corolla butterfly, lilac or yellow, flag leaf broadly Ovate, apically broad-lobed, keeled oblong, apex obtuse, slightly incurved; stamens 10, anthers small; pistil 1, ovary superior, obovate or linear, style filamentous.
Capsule oval, ca. 5mm, no cracking, black peel, paste with seeds. One seed, aroma. Flowering from July to August, fruiting from September to October.
