A few days ago, Taicang 602, a new cotton variety cultivated by researchers at the Cotton Breeding Center of Taicang City, Liu Zhengyi, passed the examination and approval of the Jiangsu Crop Variety Approval Committee. Taicang 602 is a bivalent transgenic insect-resistant hybrid cotton. It is the sixth new cotton variety developed by researcher Liu Zhengyao following the 2009 Su Kangza 1, and is also the first new cotton variety named after Taicang. Taicang 602 was bred in 2006 and participated in regional trials in Jiangsu Province from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, it entered the production trial in Jiangsu Province.
