China independently developed a three-dimensional optical imaging platform

Release date: 2010-10-13

The 2010 World Molecular Imaging Conference (WMIC) demonstrated a variety of molecular imaging tools, including new probes and imaging platforms, including bioluminescence photography from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Tian Jie from the School of Life Sciences, Xidian University. (BLT) and 3D reconstruction platforms are eye-catching.
BLT is a new type of reporter optical imaging method. Preclinical studies have confirmed that BLT can monitor a variety of physiological and pathological processes in the body, and has great application potential in drug development, early diagnosis and treatment monitoring. At present, the bimodal BLT/micro-CT system (registered patent) developed by Dr. Liu Junting of the team has carried out a number of experiments to achieve in vivo imaging of various animal models such as liver parenchymal tumor monitoring and angiogenesis assessment.
In the imaging study of right hepatic lobe tumors in tumor immunodeficiency mice, based on the hp finite element method (hp-FEM) quantitative 3D reconstruction program, the BLT/micro-CT system can not only complete the noninvasive in vivo display of tumor cells carrying reporter cells. Trace and more accurately quantify the energy of cellular optical signals in deep tissues. Compared with the two-dimensional optical imaging system, the imaging has higher sensitivity, specificity and precise positioning of time and space. The research and development of this platform fully demonstrates our country's attempts and breakthroughs in the development of molecular imaging equipment.
