Japan uses soybean gene to produce high ferritin rice

An expert from the University of Tokyo Bioengineering Research Center used a bacterium as a mediator to inject the soybean gene into rice DNA to promote ferritin production in rice. As a result, it was found that the iron content of this rice is very rich. About 200 grams of this kind of rice can basically satisfy the body's need for iron. Since about 30% of people in the world who eat rice as staple foods are suffering from malnutrition or anaemia due to iron deficiency, high-ferritin rice will provide an effective solution for changing iron deficiency in humans. At present, this ferritin gene improvement technology has been applied to more than 30 varieties of rice.
