How to reduce waste and improve feed utilization

1, feed plan is not accurate. Too many feed plans, long time spent in the farm, variations in feed quality, oxidation of fats, partial oxidation of vitamins, resulting in decreased feed nutritive value and reduced feed remuneration. If there is more than one type of feed plan and there are few alternatives, it may be necessary to temporarily replace this material with one another, resulting in nutritional mismatches or changes in palatability, which will significantly affect feed utilization.

2. The feed plan is irrational. Failure to change materials or refuel them prematurely results in unfavorable feed nutrients and animal feeding needs, resulting in a decrease in feed utilization or a direct increase in feed costs.

3, improper storage of feed. Not only is the preservation condition not perfect, but it may also be caused by improper human operations, such as unopened feeds that are not used to open the bags, and wet feeding areas.

4, improper feed feeding. There are many phenomena such as unevenness, raised dust, and feeding chutes. This is a problem of the breeder's feeding and management level and sense of responsibility. The uneven feeding rate of the feeding trough can lead to uneven hunger and satiation, eventually causing adverse effects such as different animal sizes and unequal fat and thinning. Unskilled or rude movements during feeding can throw material out of the chute and cause a lot of dust, which is a direct waste, and dust is unfavorable to both the animal and the breeder's own respiratory health. In addition, livestock and poultry should pay attention to ensuring water supply after the feeding, and insufficient drinking water will also reduce the digestibility of feed.

5, feed formula is irrational. Unreasonable choice of feed ingredients, poor quality, unreasonable nutrition indicators, and lack of consideration of factors such as digestibility, palatability, and hygienic safety, resulting in picky pigs, high incidence or slow growth rate (high feed ratio), etc. It's a waste of feed.

6, improper animal slaughter. We know that after the animal reaches adulthood, the growth rate will slow down. Therefore, the timely listing of slaughterhouses can control the whole feed ratio and increase the control of the breeding cost.

Let's talk about an interesting phenomenon now. As the price of pigs is expected to rise (the same applies to other animals), we have to postpone the time-to-market so that we can obtain higher economic benefits but increase the cost of feed. Therefore, controlling feed costs and guaranteeing economic benefits seem to be a contradiction. In fact, it is a sacrifice of a small amount of feed costs to obtain a large amount of economic benefits.
