Southern ground cover plant seedling cutting technology

There are four kinds of propagation methods for ground cover plant seedlings, seed propagation, graft propagation, cutting propagation, and tissue culture. In the southern region, the most widely used and the lowest cost is that the seedling farmers in different regions are more susceptible to cutting.

Influencing factors

First, the intrinsic factors 1. Tree species characteristics Different tree species due to genetic differences in the morphological structure, growth and development rules and ability to adapt to the external environment are very different, resulting in differences in the survival of cuttings, some cuttings easy to take root, and some Rooting difficulties.

2. The mother plant and cutting age As the plant grows, its metabolism is gradually weakened, and its vitality and adaptability are gradually reduced. In general, the rooting ability of cuttings decreases with the age of the mother plant. Therefore, the younger the mother plant is, the stronger the vitality is, and the higher the survival rate of cutting branches is. Similarly, the use of a biennial cutting in the same plant is easier than using perennial shoots.

3. Cutting development The development of shoots is good or bad, that is, the amount of nutrients in the shoots has a certain influence on the cutting survival. In general, the shoots on the principal axis of the plant were the best, and it was better to use it for cuttings than to use lateral branches; the branches with the same age were the thicker the better; the branches on the canopy positive surface were better than the branches on the negative side; the germination branch on the base was better than the upper branch. In production practice, some tree species carry a portion of two-year-old branches, that is, cuttings with cuttings help increase the survival rate, which is related to the storage of more nutrients in the biennial branches.

The buds and leaves on the cuttings can supply the nutrients and growth hormones necessary for the rooting of the cuttings. Therefore, in order to prevent the excessive evaporation of water, the cuttings should retain as much leaves and buds as possible to facilitate rooting.

Second, the external factors 1. Temperature Most rooting seedlings optimum temperature of 15 °C to 25 °C, with 20 °C for the most suitable. When the substrate temperature is 3°C to 5°C higher than the air temperature, cutting rooting is most beneficial.

2. Moisture and Ventilation Post-cutting cuttings require proper matrix moisture and air humidity, which is the key to cutting rooting. First of all to ensure a higher air humidity, usually 80% to 90% relative humidity; Second, to maintain proper matrix moisture, but not too much, to avoid poor basement caused by poor ventilation of the cuttings, can be shade and irrigation And other measures to improve the survival rate. In modern seedling raising techniques, closed cutting beds and full-day automatic intermittent spraying facilities are often used, with good results.

3. Adequate light illumination can increase soil temperature and temperature and promote rooting. When the light is too strong, the branches will dry or burn. Therefore, in the early stage of cutting, it should be properly shaded. As the root grows, the illumination time can be gradually extended. However, plants do not have the same requirements for the same light. They require different lighting requirements depending on the variety. According to the requirements of light intensity of seedlings, we can classify it into three types: positive, neutral and negative ornamental seedlings.

Positive seedlings hi light, not shade, have a higher light compensation point, in order to normal growth and development in sunny conditions. If the light is insufficient, the branches are slender, the leaves are yellow and thin, the flowers are small but not blooming, and the flowering is poor. Common species are Huang Lianqiao, Fujian tea, purple peony, dragon boat flowers, Milan, Chinese rose, hibiscus and so on.

Neutral seedlings are more fond of light and grow best under sufficient sunlight, but they also have varying degrees of shade-tolerant ability, such as camellia, rhododendron, duck-foot wood, Zhuju, and Podocarpus.

Negative seedlings have a strong resistance to negative and grow well under conditions of moderate shade, such as yew, octagonal gold plate, ivy, flower butterfly, kidney fern and so on.

Therefore, they should be placed according to the different light-requiring characteristics of various plants. Positive seedlings are placed in an open, open environment; neutral seedlings are placed next to large trees or under sparse forests, allowing them to receive 70% to 80% of the sun; negative seedlings are placed underneath the multiplexes and allowed to accept 40. % to 70% of sunlight.

4. As long as the cutting matrix can meet the requirements of cuttings on the conditions of soil moisture ventilation. Considering the need of cost, local materials are often used, loose air and sandy loam with high humus content are used. When the soil is too thick, sand, coconut cocoon and peat can be properly adjusted. The actual production of crushed sand loam slowly with hoe, it is best to spread exposure for two or three days, high temperature sterilization.

Rooting method

First, physical processing

1. The mechanical treatment is usually used for ring peeling, scratching, and bruising. After the growth of new shoots ceases, cuttings, girdling, or tying with wire or the like at the base of the shoots may prevent the nutrients in the upper part of the shoot from being transported downwards, so that the nutrients are stored in the shoots, and the shoots are cut and cut in the dormant period.

2. Yellowing treatment Cover the cuttings with black cloth, paper or plastic film to make the shoots yellow, soften, conducive to the growth of root tissue, and promote rooting of the cuttings.

3. Heating treatment Use electric heating wire or hot water pipe to heat the seedbed so that the bed temperature of the seedbed can reach 20°C to 25°C, which can increase the survival rate of cuttings. For shoots containing more turpentine seedlings such as pines and spruce, the cuttings can be soaked in warm water for 2 hours to eliminate turpentine and promote rooting.

Second, hormone treatment

1. Types of plant growth hormone can promote rooting of cuttings. Commonly used are indole acetic acid (IAA), indole butyric acid (NAA), 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), ABT rooting powder, etc. .

2. Treatment methods There are many such products on the market. As long as we purchase them in a regular pesticide shop, we can strictly follow the instructions for use.

Precautions

To prevent the germination of annual grass weeds, the butachlor solution was used to pour the substrate before cutting. Generally 20 grams of butachlor solution was added for every 50 kg of water.

Considering the economic benefits, a good bag must be able to grow seedlings as soon as possible. Therefore, we cut several cuttings in the same bag at the same time. The first is to prevent one or two cuttings from becoming unviable. There are still a few others that survive; second, if all survive, they can quickly grow into nursery stocks, reducing the time spent waiting for the seedlings to accumulate in the nursery.

Plug maintenance

First, temperature cutting branches generally require the best root length at 15 °C to 25 °C, then the summer should be appropriate spray cooling. Especially at noon high temperatures, spray a few times, every one or two hours, and strengthen ventilation. Some seedlings in winter cannot withstand the cold, such as red leaf, canna, and perilla. They are then arched in bamboo beds or iron rods on seedbeds. They are covered with agricultural films, but only at relatively low temperatures. At high noon, the membrane door was properly ventilated.

Second, the moisture matrix can not be too moist, in order to pinch in the palm of your hand, can not overflow water beads is appropriate. In the summer, high temperatures and high humidity, in addition to the necessary cooling of the spray, it was found that when the substrate is in a wet state, the plug bed is not supplemented with moisture. Summer watering should be in the morning or evening, because the soil temperature at this time is similar to the water temperature, and the hot noon soil temperature is at least 3 °C higher than the water temperature, and sometimes even greater than 5 °C, so that watering damage to flowers and trees. In the winter, when the weather is dry and the substrate moisture evaporates easily, it needs to be moisturized at high noon temperature. It is absolutely forbidden to water plants and flowers in the morning or evening. Since the water temperature in the winter is generally lower than the soil temperature in the morning or in the evening, watering the flowers and trees in the morning or evening has a greater adverse effect. In the long run, it will cause the death of flowers and trees.

3. Control of weeds Once the cuttings have been inserted into the bag, weeds cannot be used to control weeds with phytotoxic herbicides such as Roundup or Glyphosate. Broadleaf weeds can only be removed by manual methods at this time. Annual and perennial grasshoppers When grasses and weeds are unearthed, they can be covered with grass or Weiba, while target plants belonging to broad-leaved crops are safe and sound.

Fourth, top dressing This depends on the growth of flowers and trees, when the plant grows gratifying, it is not top-dressing. Generally, if the cuttings are for more than one month, a small amount of compound fertilizer can be applied. After application, water must be applied.
