Spinach fertilization method

The cultivation of 1,000 kg of spinach requires approximately 1.6 kg of pure nitrogen, 0.83 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 1.8 kg of potassium oxide. To prepare the soil before planting, farmers typically apply 5,000 kg of high-quality organic fertilizer along with 40 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base fertilizer. This helps improve soil structure and provides essential nutrients for the initial growth phase. Before the winter season, when spinach seedlings reach about 10 cm in height, it's important to assess their growth condition and apply an overwintering top dressing. This usually involves adding 10 to 15 kg of nitrogen fertilizer and 10 to 15 kg of phosphate fertilizer. Additionally, it’s crucial to water the plants thoroughly with frozen water before winter sets in, which helps protect the roots from freezing and prevents plant death during cold weather. In the following spring, timely fertilization is necessary. Farmers should apply 20 to 25 kg of nitrogen fertilizer and 15 to 20 kg each of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer every 10 to 20 days, depending on the crop’s needs. It's important to avoid applying fertilizer directly into the center of the spinach plants, as this can cause root burn or damage to young seedlings. Each top dressing should be done in combination with watering to ensure even nutrient distribution and better absorption. In addition to soil fertilization, foliar sprays can also be used. A 0.3% concentration of liquid foliar fertilizer can be applied to the leaves, providing a quick nutrient boost and improving overall plant health. By following these practices, farmers can optimize spinach growth, ensure healthy development, and achieve higher yields while maintaining sustainable farming methods.
