A research report published by the Chinese University of Hong Kong on the 21st showed that the risk of breast cancer in women is closely related to their eating habits. Eating at night increases the risk of breast cancer.
The study defines "Night eating" as: continuing for more than one year and at least once a week after 10 pm.
According to Xie Liya, an associate professor at the Hong Kong Chinese University School of Medicine's Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, women who eat from 10pm to 12pm have an 80% increased risk of breast cancer; women who eat from 12pm to 2am, The risk of developing breast cancer is highest, increasing by 120%; from 2am to 4am, the risk of developing breast cancer increases by 90%.
The report also pointed out that women who eat at night for 20 years or more have an increased risk of developing breast cancer by 128%. At the same time, eating high-energy, carbohydrate-rich foods at night also increases the risk of developing breast cancer.
Xie Liya said that eating at night may alter the neuroendocrine function, such as the secretion of insulin, melatonin and cortisol hormones, resulting in several highly metabolic results associated with breast cancer.
She suggested that after 10 o'clock in the evening, especially from 12 o'clock in the evening to 2 o'clock in the morning, avoid eating carbohydrate-rich foods to avoid disturbing the body's biological clock.
It is reported that this study was jointly conducted by CUHK and Utrecht University in the Netherlands. The research team surveyed 1,835 Hong Kong women between the ages of 20 and 84 from 2012 to 2015 in multiple hospitals in Hong Kong. Of these, 922 were breast cancer patients and 913 were non-breast cancer patients.
The survey included dietary habits and habits during the day and night, the timing, duration, type and frequency of food at night.
